We certainly could and perhaps should start back in time but for now let us start here with...
b. June 21, 1891 in McHenry, Illinois
d. November 21, 1977 in Tucson, Arizona
Final resting place is next to his wife in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Lot 80 Section A in Elmira, New York,
The only child of Warren Thomas and Lovina Grimoldby. He attended college at the University of Illinois. His studies were interrupted during his junior year by a severe case of pleurisy. It took nearly a year for him to recover. Several of his ribs were removed in an attempt to cure this disease. Excerpt from “My Family Tree” acknowledgement Kathy Nelson.
I only met Great Grandpa Thomas twice and both times I was too young to really remember him. I remember when we died that my Dad went to the funeral. I believe he flew out to Tucson and flew back with the casket, but I could be remembering wrong (I was only 5).
I have Great Grandpa's typewriter, camera and a couple of pocket watches. I have him to thank for my interest in typewriters. Right or wrong his typewriter has seen better days (My brother and I banging on it back in the late seventy's probably didn't help. But it made me wonder what other typewriters might be like. Now I have over 60 typewriters (we are trying to sell 10 right now, who needs 60 typewriters :) ). I really enjoy tinkering with them and getting them to work again as well as using them for correspondence.
