During her final years of life, Ruth suffered from Alzheimer's dementia and was taken care of by her daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Hank Moore. On August 8, 1994 Ruth passed away from respiratory failure due to metastic cancer. She was laid to rest next to her husband in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Lot 80 Section A in Elmira, New York.
I only remember Great Grandma Thomas having Alzheimer's dementia. There we a couple of times were she thought I was my dad and asked me about people I didn't know. I remember going to her funeral in Elmira. I met up with Julie Maynard in Pittsburgh and we drove up to Elmira. I think that's the last time all of us were together in one spot that I remember.
Grandma and Grandpa Moore (Wilma and Hank) weren't perfect, who is? But she did take care of her mom and her niece (Julie) at the same time and that goes pretty far in my book.
