Maynard Kith & Kin

Pfc. Alan F Maynard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield S. Maynard of Trumansburg RD 2, participated with 1,500 other Leathernecks of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, in an amphibious landing on the beaches of Dikil, Turkey, Sept. 4.

As members of the landing force of "Exercise Keystone," the Marines stormed ashore in support of Turkish troops defending the area against an airborne "enemy" invasion.
