SPRING GROVE - Marie R Thomas, 74 died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford.
She was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Spring Grove, to Arthur and Matilda (Traver) Oxtoby. On Dec. 20, 1941, she married Lyle C Thomas in Spring Grove. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1980.
She was a graduate of Richmond High School and worked as a traffic controller at Morton Chemical in Ringwood for 48 1/2 years, retiring in December 1992. She was a member of the Morton Blenders, the Quarter Century and Silver Jubilee Clubs of Morton Chemical, and a member of the St. Peter Church in Spring Grove.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith (Richard) Riedel of Spring Grove: two grandsons, Kevin (Karla) Thomas of Richmond and Clifford (Renee) Thomas of Spring Grove: two great-granddaughters. Samantha and Morgan Thomas of Spring Grove: two brothers, Eugene "Bud" (June) Oxtoby of McHenry and Robert (Elaine) Oxtoby of Spring Grove: a nephew, Robert (Rene) Oxtoby.
