At my current age, old as dirt, have received multiple vaccines.
Seventy years worth. Did you know in 1796 Edward Jenner observed that milkmaids who were exposed to cowpox experienced a milder case of smallpox? He developed a method of arm-to-arm inoculation; a small amount of pus from one person’s blister was inoculated into the arm of another.
In my day, the 1950s, they used a bifurcated needle dipped in the vaccine solution then pricked the skin multiple times. The opaque pustules formed a scab that eventually fell off, leaving the skin pock-marked.
Twice, never scabbed.
(Bivalent COVID-19 vaccine, done.)
