I have two composition books containing names and snippets of family history. One in the actual handwritten script of the individuals, the other written by an individual able to read everyone’s handwriting, likely someone who knew the family members well. Noted on the title pages, the book contains members of the Maynard and Robinson Families.
This was the first time it did not include the Robinsons in the introduction. Based on participation, these family reunions were ending. This, from what I can tell, was the final gathering. I have no records of reunions beyond this event.
Names listed I am not familiar with include Hazel Maynard, Marion Maynard, Ellie Maynard, Neva Wright, and Joseph Maynard, although I have information on a Joseph Rede Maynard.
Family historical acknowledgements: C. C. Maynard passed away (1956).
A daughter was born to Alan F Maynard on June 3, 1957.
What are a few of the take always?
This was the 30th reunion, but unlike past notes, it announced no date or place for the next reunion. They did not elect officers for the next reunion, 1957, therefore none announced. It will become apparent as we move back in time that this was the smallest group to attend a family reunion. One can only speculate that if this was a planned end to reunions, one might hope that as the last reunion, it would have been better attended.
C. C. Maynard, Uncle Chene, aka Cheney Curtis Maynard, I see passed away January 13, 1957, in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He was born August 7, 1858, died at age 99.
For those not familiar with the area, Eldridge Park is in Elmira, New York. Included picnic areas, gardens, rides, an arcade, tasty treats, and a lake said to have no bottom or some say connected underground to Seneca Lake near Watkins Glen, New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Maynard, Scott would be Winfield Scott Maynard. Son in attendance was Ronald Maynard. Frederick Maynard, listed as a son, was actually his grandson (James Frederick Abrams) Maynard, but adopted and raised as a son. His mother was Mary Rose (Maynard) Abrams.
Wonder who controlled the final balance, a sum of $6.68?
