JULIUS DOCKWEILER
February 13, 1951
BLOOMINGDALE, Feb. 13-Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Wickett & Peck funeral home for Julius Dockweiler, 71, retired farmer who died Sunday at Borgess hospital, Kalamazoo.
The Rev. Homer Peden of the Methodist church will officiate at the funeral rites, and burial will be in Lindsley cemetery.
Mr. Dockweiler was born in Germany March 31, 1880, and was brought to the United States when he was three years old. He came to Cheshire township in 1921, which had been his home till he went to Kalamazoo one year ago.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Stickler, Muskegon, and Mrs. Louise Culter, Kalamazoo; two sons, Elmer Dockweiler, Kalamazoo, and Edward Dockweiler, Plainwell; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Muschow, Chicago, and Mrs. Frank, living in Iowa, and two brothers, William, who lives in California and Chris, of Nebraska.

DOKWEILER
December 28, 1900
At her home, 915 Vine street, yesterday occurred the death of Mrs. Anna Dokweiler, nee Greve, in the 52nd year of her age.
The deceased had been ill for some time and her death was not unexpected. She was born in Germany, and had resided in this city for many years. Her husband, Christopher Dokweiler and eight children survive, viz: Carl Dokweiler, Mrs. Bertha Muchow, Mrs. Anna Spencer, Julius Dokweiler, Mrs. Mathilda Frank, Christopher Dokweiler, Jr., and Margaretha Dokweiler.
The funeral will be held from the bereaved home, 915 Vine street, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with interment at Fairmount cemetery.

LYNN DEWEY MAYNARD

GILLETT - Age 98, went peacefully to be with his Lord, Friday, February 7, 2020, at his home in Gillett, PA. Lynn was born in Gillett on January 12, 1922, a son of the late Cola and May (Wright) Maynard. Surviving Lynn is his son, Gary Maynard, of Gillett, PA; granddaughter, Shawna Stoner; great-grandchildren, Dylan Stoner and Sean Riley Stoner; dear friends, Collette and Marvin Roberts and Colleen Kane; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Gordon) Maynard; daughter, Linda Haxton; brothers Melvin, Rexford, and Lester Maynard; sister, Pauline Woods; and special friend, Phyllis Ward.
Lynn was a graduate of Troy High School. He went to work for Bendix from 1939 until he went into the Army, and served from 1942 until 1945, Company F, Second Battalion, 85th Infantry. Most of the time was spent in Italy where he was a courier. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic action in Italy, after he and another soldier went behind enemy line to deliver a critical message to another battalion. After the was he returned to Gillett, PA and married Ruth Gordon on April 12, 1947. Lynn went back to work for Bendix, until he retired in 1975 after 32 years. He then had a lawn and garden business from 1969 until 1974, sold Fireview wood stoved from 1977 to 1980, an also drove school bus for twenty years. He was on the Troy School Board for 14 years. He is a charter member of the South Creek Lions Club, a member of the Troy Masonic Lodge and a member of the Gillett Baptist Church. Grateful recognition is given to caregivers, Ginger Kostecky, Hazel Brook, Vicki Bennett, Marj Pellor, Towanda Hospice, and VA Health Care Network. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Gillett Baptist Church, 33241 PA-14, Gillett, PA 16925 on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the church on Wednesday. February 12th at 11:00 am with Rev. Donald Maynard and Pastor Micky Cavanaugh celebrating Lynn's life. The interment will follow in the Gillett Cemetery where the Tioga Honor Guard will accord Mr. Maynard with Military Honors and the clergy will conduct the committal prayers. CARLTON M. MAYNARD

Carlton "Charlie" M. Maynard, 66, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Rexford and Virginia Culver Maynard; brothers Richard and Kenneth Maynard; and father-in-law, Raymond Manning.
Carlie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jackie Manning Maynard; sons, Darryl (Christine) and Scott (Jamie) Maynard; daughter, Mindy (Josh) Cooper; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Young (Dick), Pat Brewer (John) and Donna (Wendell) Harkness; brother-in-law, Raymond, Steven (Bonnie) and Mark (MIchelle) Manning; sister-in-law, Kathy (Sid) Dense, Debbie (Russell) VanZile and Judi (Rich) Clark; several nieces and nephews.
Carlie was a 1969 graduate of Troy High School. He worked at F.M. Howell for many years. Carlie was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. with a memorial service to follow at the Fassett Baptist Church, Fassett, PA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Carlie's tribute wall may be signed at www.olthof.com.

Age 89, a lifelong member of Gillett community, passes away Monday morning at the Bradford County Manor. Ruth was the daughter of the late Earl and Essie (Swartwood) Gordon. She was born April 21st, 1923 in Elmira, NY. Ruth is survived by her loving husband and friend of 65 years, Lynn D. Maynard of Gillett, PA; son, Gary Maynard of Gillett, PA.; granddaughter, Shawna (Brendon) Stoner of Atco, NJ; and 2 great-grandsons, Riley, and Dylan Stoner, special cousin, Ethel Thorp of Gillett, PA.; and close neighbors, Marvin and Collette Roberts of Gillett, PA. She is predeceased by her daughter, Linda Haxton in 1979. Age 82, of Gillett, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born on March 11, 1930 in Sayre, PA to the late Jesse and Bertha (Decker) Gardner. Bertha is survived by her husband, Lester Maynard of Gillett, PA; sons Rev. Donald (Edith) Maynard of Canisteo, NY, Melvin (Norreen) Maynard of Simpsonville, SC and Bruce Maynard of Gillett, PA; daughter, Beverly (Lloyd) Hite of Canton, PA; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephew. Bertha worked at Willard State Hospital and then at the A&P Plant for many years. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 16, from 6 t 8 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Age 81 of Fassett, PA, Sunday, January 23, 2000 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, NY Rexford was born August 31, 1918 in Gillett, PA the son of the late Cole and Emily Mae (Wright) Maynard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Virginia (Culver) Maynard; children, Janice (Gary) Finnerty of Gouverneur, NY, Pat (Bill) Brewer of Lawrenceville, PA, Carlton (Jackie) Maynard of Sayre, PA, Donna (Wendell) Harkness of Gillett, PA; Daughter-in-law, Marjorie Brock of Rockingham, NC; 18 loving grandchildren and step grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren Gillett, PA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY, Thursday, January 27, 2000 from 7-9 PM and also on Friday, January 28, 2000, 11-1 PM. Rexford is predeceased by two loved and dearly missed sons, Richard Maynard in 1989 and Kenneth Maynard in 1946. A dear brother and sister, Melvin Maynard in 1945 and Pauline Wood, in 1995. Rexford was a member of the Fassett Baptist Church in Fassett, PA. He retired from the Eclipse, Bendix, Facet in 1979 after 30 years. He was at one time of the South Creek Township Supervisor and Road Forman for 12 years. A member of the South Creek Police Force and Mansfield Police Force. A Charter member of the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Past driver of the South Creek Ambulance. An Association of the Fassett Grange and very active in the South Creek Senior Citizen Center. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Maynard; four sons, Richard of Horseheads, Allen of Montour Falls, Ronald of Yonkers, and Frederick Maynard of Trumansburg; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Abrams of Red Creek; 11 grandchildren; a brother, George Maynard of Elmira; a sister Mrs. Henry Shelansky of Pine City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ness Funeral Home, Trumansburg. The Rev. Arthur Martin, pastor of the Jacksonville Community Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, there.

Amasa Maynard, aged 65, of Troy R. D. 1, died suddenly Sunday evening, July 20, 1952.
Mr. Maynard was a life-long resident of the Troy vicinity and was a well-known farmer until his retirement four years ago. He was a member of the Alba Church of Christ.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Garth Maynard, Lexington, Ky., and Arthur W. Maynard, Ky., Elmira; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Dickinson, East Smithfield, and Miss Lucy Maynard, Canton; three grandchildren.
Services were held from the Soper & Vickery Funeral Home, Troy, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Richard J. McIntosh officiated and interment was in the Alba cemetery.

A. F. MAYNARD KILLED SUNDAY
July 27, 1947
Wellsboro Man Was Struck By Car Near Ferenbaugh, N. Y.
Archibald F. Maynard, aged 50 years, of Wellsboro, R. D. 2, was instantly killed about 12:30 a. m. Sunday when struck by a car operated by Glenn A. Murray, of Beaver Dams, R. D. 2, on Route 414 near Ferenbaugh, N. Y.
According to State Police Sergeant Edmond Broughton, Mr. Murry was driving toward Corning on his way the New York Central yards when his automobile struck Mr. Maynard
Mr. Murry told investigating officers that he saw a man standing near the guard rails at the edge of the highway on the westside of the road and as he reached that point the man ran into the path of his car. The body was carried more than 100 feet from the point where the accident occurred.
Dr. H. B. Smith, of Corning, Steuben County Coroner, reported that Maynard suffered a skull fracture, compound fractures of both legs, rib fractures and shoulder and knee fractures.
Mr. Maynard was born July 13, 1897, son of Chenney and Anna Webster Maynard. He was engaged in farming, but was employed for 13 years in the Wellsboro plant of the Corning Glass Works.
Survivors are his father, Chenney Maynard, of Wellsboro; six brothers, Hobart, Howard and Homer, of Wellsboro; Joseph, of Presho; Mark, of South Corning; Melvin, of Post Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Closey, of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. Damia Ashley, of Wellsboro.
The funeral was held yesterday at the Johnson & Tussey Funeral Home; burial in the Wellsboro cemetery.

Pfc. MAYNARD DEAD IN GERMANY
October 13, 1945
Pfc. Melvin Maynard of Gillett died in Germany Oct. 16, his wife Mrs. Lillian Maynard, has been informed by the War Department.
Pfc. Maynard was a member of the Quartermatsre Truck Corps. He entered service in November, 1942, and trained at Ft. Monmouth, N. J., and Drew Field, Fla. Overseas two years, he served in England and France before going to Germany. He was awarded the European Theater of Operations ribbon with two battle stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Beside his wife, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cole Maynard; brothers, Lester and Rexford, all of Gillett; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Woods of Ovid and a brother, Pfc. Lynn Maynard with the Army in Italy.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira.

Friends are invited to call at the Kuhl Funeral Home in Mansfield on Wed. evening 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral there Thursday 1 p.m. Kermit Clickner officiating. Burial at Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, Pa. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jerald (Marie) Cummings of Horseheads, N.Y.; one son, Ralph of Mansfield; three sisters, Mrs. Emil (Ruth) Thomas of Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Ethel Verbanic of Elmira Heights; one brother, Richard Frank of Mansfield; three half-brothers, Raymond and Robert Summer both of Mansfield, Omer Summer of Millerton; three grandchildren ; one grandchild. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Horseheads, N.Y. She was Born March 1, 1905 in Iowa the daughter of John and Matilda Dockweiler Frank.

MRS. EMIL THOMAS DIES ON MONDAY

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Emil W. Thomas of 422 South Jefferson street were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death on Monday night of Mrs. Thomas
Mrs. Thomas was taken seriously ill on Sunday afternoon. Although medical aid was on hand she became steadily worse and on Monday underwent an operation at the Woodstock hospital. She passed away at about 8:30 o'clock on Monday evening.
Corinne Werden Thomas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Werden of Wauconda, has made Woodstock her home for about five years and during that time has made many friends here who sincerely mourn her sudden death and who extend sympathy to the husband, the little three-year-old son and Mrs. Thomas' parents, who have been called upon to part with their loved one.
Mrs. Thomas was a women of sweet disposition, musical in her tastes and an active worker in the Dorcas society of the Methodist church. She leaves beside her husband, one son, Lyle; also her parents; one sister, Edna; a brother, Kirk Werden and two grandmothers , Mrs. Van Auken and Mrs. Eloise Werden. Mrs. Thomas' sister and Grandma Werden, who recently left for a visit in the west, reached California on the day of Mrs. Thomas' sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Emil Thomas from the home at 11:30 o'clock on Thursday morning and from the Federated church at Wauconda at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will take place in Wauconda.

Corinne Louise Werden Thomas was born Feb. 16, 1897, on the farm located three miles west of Wauconda, Ill. As a girl she was the pride of her relatives and friends being the oldest of the three children born to Clayton and Hallie Werden. She was baptized at the age of six and continued to live that pure life which was manifested by the work which she did and the way in which she met the end of worldly affairs. She grew to womanhood with rare accomplishments in music and the art of teaching.
On June 12, 1919, Corinne was united in marriage to Emil W. Thomas, of McHenry. To this happy union was born on Dec. 2, 1920, on beloved son, Lyle Clayton.
After a little less than five years of home building, Corine was forced to leave work Dec. 31, 1923. She leaves her husband, son, father, mother, on sister, Edna, and one brother, Kirk, to mourn her early passing. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to these loved ones, especially to the husband and to the young son who has been called upon so early in life to lose his loved mother.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Thomas from her late home as 11:00 o'clock on Thursday and from the Federated church at Wauconda at 2:00 o'clock.

OBITUARY: JOHN W. FRANK
John W. Frank died Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock at his home in Chicago, death resulting from pneumonia. He was born in 1871, and was 38 years, 4 months, and 19 days old at time of his death. He was born in Clinton county, Iowa, and married ten years ago, having lived in Davenport for five years. Eight months ago moved to Chicago with his family where he has resided ever since. He is survived by his wife Tillie, a son, George, three daughters, Ruth, Bernice, and Ethel, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Frank of Gambril, Ia. a sister, Mrs. George Murphy, and brother Joseph Frank, both of Kimball, S. Dak. The body arrived in Davenport this afternoon over the Rock Island railroad, and was taken to the home of J. Carl Dockweiler, 2222 Rockingham road, from where the funeral will be held Thursday morning, with services at St. Joseph's church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be make in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
