The Year 1968

Freshman and sophomore students were required to take Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). A college program to prepare young adults (males) to become officers in the U.S. Military.

Mandatory.

Two choices today Army or Air Force. No one seems interested in providing help when putting my class schedule together. But now everyone had an opinion,

Air Force.

Parents, grandparents, extended family, even strangers on the street.

At the west entrance of Old Main, the Air Force line formed. At the east side of Old Main, the Army line formed.

The year 1969.

Decision time, weighing my options, the shorter line.
