This is easy. One pound of elbow macaroni, one pound of ground beef, one can of tomato sauce, and one large can of diced tomatoes.
Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the elbow macaroni. Stir occasionally. Cook the macaroni until firm; do not overcook. Takes seven to eight minutes. Once done, rinse in a colander.
While the above is being completed in another, large pan cook off the ground beef. Remove excessive grease. Next, add diced tomatoes, stir, add tomato sauce, stir, and add the following spices to taste: salt, pepper, marjoram, basil, and Italian Herb Blend.
Combine the meat/tomato/spices mixture with elbow macaroni.
FYI, it is normally better the next day. If you can wait, I can’t.
Place a serving in a bowl, add 1/4 pound of butter* and more salt, pepper and red chili flakes to taste.
Sit back with a soda and enjoy!
For dessert, a slice of pecan pie and a glass of cold milk.
*This was a favorite of both my dad* and me**, clearly not healthy and will eventually require triple-bypass heart surgery and six weeks of rehab.
*Dad was more of an apple pie fan.
**Yep, May 26, 2010, triple bypass surgery, weeks of heart rehab.
